Vierola is a coastal country, with only a handfull of mountain ranges. Its weather is the most welcoming of the countries on Ulos, as it is mostly located in the temperate zone. Vierolia had plenty of time, resources (and luck) to recover from the destruction of the Disintegration and so its fauna and flora is much healthier than any of its neighbouring countries. Even with its incredible recovery, Vierolia doesn’t have many humanoid occupants, as most have become used to, or evolved to live in, the harsher environments of the Ulisian deserts and savannas.

Vierola is small but important to the economics of the continent. They export many fruits, plants and (most importantly) radiant (divine magic infused) corals, important for both the culture of Ulos and many magical rituals.

Flora and Fauna

Vierola’s nature has been thriving for the past few centuries, mostly due to the positive radiant magic engraved deep in its earth. Its soil can nourish almost any plant, its waters flow clean and with little risk of disease. There are plants that are believed to hold magical and healing properties, although this has never been truly confirmed.

The animal kingdom has been blessed as well, even though in different ways.

Many of Vierola’s creatures have evolved rather quickly, gaining unusual intelligence and/or motor skills. Many of these creatures still serve the mortals or are their companions, some have left their previous owners to live a life of their own.

Coral of the Divine

These corals, growing in the eastern waters of Vierola, are thought to have healing and magical properties. They are commonly used as a magic component in necromancy and evocation rituals, or as a substitute for missing components. They come in various colors, shapes and sizes, although big pieces tend to get broken up into smaller ones for storage. Spirets often use these corals when performing their burial rituals as a conduit for a soul’s safe travel into the afterlife.

Sunberries

These ellipsoidal berries the size of a wallnut are one of Vierola’s favourite ingredients. They tend to be cyan in color, growing more into yellow when overripe. Sunberries grow mainly in the south, warmer parts of Vierola, where people believe the divine magic is the strongest. These berries are used both in local desserts, drinks and medicine, giving a very sour aftertaste.

Spirit Foxes

Spirit foxes are creatures similar to polar foxes in looks, but not personality. Little is known about spirit foxes as they are incredibly shy animals that tend not to even try to approach a humanoid. It is believed that spirit foxes bring good luck if one was to interact with one on their travels.
